Our story
Hello dear guests,
for more than 30 years I have been offering my bike tours through Hamburg, and I still love doing it. Every tour is an original, just as it always was. Back in the nineties I started with seven bikes, the first person in Hamburg to guide guests through the city by bike. I explored the well-known routes and the unknown ones, and little by little they became the tours we ride today. Over three decades I have trained a good number of guides and shown them my routes; some of them now run companies of their own.
My mission has always been the same: to help people fall in love with Hamburg from the saddle, and stay fit while they are at it. My bikes are old school and well maintained. Perfect for the start of a tour. And we still set off where we always have, at the bike station in Rotherbaum by Dammtor. Bernd and his friends, Tobias, Lucca, Tommy, Wolfgang and Emi, look forward to familiar and new faces alike.

Arriving
It helps if you are there about ten minutes early, so everyone gets a bike that fits.
What to bring
Comfortable shoes and clothes for the weather are all you need. We ride in the rain too, and we have ponchos for you.
Cancelling
Cancelling is free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour. After that we charge 50 % of the price.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if it rains?
We ride in bad weather too. Rain ponchos are ready for you, and our guides know the best tricks to make it a good tour anyway.
Can children come along?
Children are always very welcome. We also have small bikes.
Can I bring my own bike or e-bike?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own bike or e-bike at any time. Ideal for anyone who prefers their usual bike, or a little tailwind.
Do I need a helmet?
We will give you a helmet if you would like one.
Where does the tour start?
The bike tours start at 10:00 and 14:00, the Elbe Tour at 9:30 and 14:00, all at the Dammtor/Rotherbaum bike station, Schlüterstraße 11, 20146 Hamburg.
Can I give a tour as a gift?
Yes. Simply choose “Gift voucher” in the booking form, or give us a call.
What if I have to cancel?
Cancelling is free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour. If you cancel later, we charge 50 % of the price. This applies to all tours and groups. Please cancel by phone on +49 172 511 76 57 or by e-mail to kaupert@hamburg-radtour.de.
Which language is the tour in?
German or English: Bernd and his guides lead tours in both. Just let us know when you book. Live commentary for coach groups is also available in English.
How big are the groups?
You can book for 2 to 20 people. From around 14 guests we split the group between two guides, so that it stays personal.
Can I book in winter too?
Yes. Our main season runs from March to October, but you can book the tours all year round.
